Anne Pellowski was born in Pine Creek, WI, in 1933. She earned a B. A. from the College of St. Teresa in Winona, MN, and an M. S. L. S. with honors from Columbia University in 1959. After several jobs as a children's librarian and English instructor, she began working for the U. S. Committee for UNICEF as director of the Information Center on Children's Cultures.
